Build a better blog.

Blog Kit is the reusable toolkit behind our reading controls, quick search, editorial checks and audience reports. Use the modules you need in your own Astro and EmDash publication.

Download Blog Kit 0.1.0

MIT license · Full module source and installation guide included · Node 24, Astro 7.3.6+ and EmDash 1.2+

One package for each category

Eight independent MIT packages are available for Astro and EmDash. Each includes source, installation instructions and the limits of this first release.

Package checksums · These focused modules do not provide every feature of established WordPress suites. Read each README before enabling a module. Payments use your checkout provider; backups need a recovery plan; security headers do not replace a firewall.

Blog Kit components

  • Blog Pulse: qualified article views, approximate daily unique visitors, helpful feedback and a private admin report.
  • Editorial Check: review missing artwork, image descriptions, summaries, sources and stale review dates.
  • Reader: saved articles, text size, light/dark themes, focus mode and optional resume reading.
  • SavedList: a reading list stored on the reader's device.
  • Discovery: a keyboard-accessible search dialog for your published content.
  • Feedback: a reusable helpful/not-helpful prompt.

Install from the download

npm install ./hostlelo-blog-kit-0.1.0.tgz

Extract the archive to read README.md for component examples, server setup, trusted proxy requirements, field mappings and measurement definitions. No paid service is required. The server plugins use EmDash APIs; this package is not a WordPress plugin.

Built for adaptation

Source is supplied as readable modules and Astro components. You may use, modify and redistribute it under the included MIT license. Styles expose CSS variables, routes and content collections are configurable, and reader controls work independently of server analytics. Host branding and articles are separate from the toolkit.

Know what is measured

Analytics start from installation. Daily visitors are estimates, not identified people or historical traffic. Shared networks and changing connections affect accuracy. The toolkit respects DNT/GPC for passive measurement and requires scheduled maintenance for retention. Read the package guide before enabling it on your site.
