Get found and contacted in Khor Fakkan: a local website setup guide
Help visitors find and contact your Khor Fakkan business: tap-to-call, WhatsApp, maps, Google Business Profile, LocalBusiness schema, fast mobile pages.
The short answer
A Khor Fakkan business website should let someone on a phone find, trust and contact you in a minute. Put Call, WhatsApp and Get directions buttons at the top, use tel: links in +971 format and wa.me links, embed a lazy-loaded map, complete your Google Business Profile, add LocalBusiness structured data that passes the Rich Results Test, send forms through SMTP, keep pages fast on mobile data, and track enquiries with consent.

For a Khor Fakkan business that depends on local customers and visitors from other emirates, the website has one main job: help a person on a phone find you, trust you and contact you within a minute. That means a fast mobile page, a tap-to-call button, a WhatsApp link, a map with a directions button, a complete Google Business Profile, LocalBusiness structured data that passes Google's Rich Results Test, contact forms that reach your inbox, and a simple, consent-friendly way to see which of these bring enquiries.
Picture a made-up but very real moment. A family drives over from Dubai for the day, parks near the corniche, and searches "boat tour Khor Fakkan" on a phone with two bars of signal. Three results appear. One takes eight seconds to load and hides its phone number at the bottom of a long page. Another shows a "Call" button, a WhatsApp button and a "Get directions" link right at the top. You already know who gets the booking.
By the end of this guide you will have set up every one of those contact routes, added local structured data and validated it, made the page fast on mobile data, and started measuring enquiries without tracking people who have not agreed to it.
What local visibility actually means
Think of your website as your shop sign, your business card and your front desk rolled into one, but seen through a small phone screen. Visitors are usually in a hurry, often outdoors, and sometimes on weak mobile data. They want to know three things: are you open, how do I reach you, and how do I get there?
Search engines want to know the same things, in a format they can read. Clear contact details on the page, a consistent Google Business Profile and structured data all help them understand where you are and what you do.
Before you start
- WordPress administrator access and your hosting control panel login.
- Your exact business details: the real-world business name, address, phone number, WhatsApp number and opening hours, written once and copied everywhere.
- Your location on Google Maps, and its latitude and longitude.
- A phone to test every button on mobile data.
- About two to three hours.
Step 1: Make the key page mobile-first
Start with the page most visitors land on, usually the homepage, and design it for a phone first:
- Top of the screen: business name, a one-line description, today's opening hours, and three buttons: Call, WhatsApp, Get directions.
- Then: your main services or tours with prices or "from" prices, a few good photos, and reviews if you have them.
- Then: the map, your full address and a short contact form.
- Language: many visitors read English, many read Arabic. If you serve both, build proper language versions; our Dubai launch guide shows how to do it with Polylang.
Keep the font readable and the buttons big enough to tap with a thumb.
Step 2: Add a tap-to-call link
A tel: link opens the phone's dialler with your number filled in. The standard for these links, RFC 3966, says global numbers start with a plus sign followed by the country code and national number, and that this global form should be used. For a UAE number, that means +971 followed by the number without its leading zero.
Here is the pattern with a placeholder number (replace the X characters with your real digits):
<a href="tel:+9719XXXXXXX">Call us</a>In WordPress, add a Buttons block, type "Call us", and set its link to tel:+9719XXXXXXX with your real number. Put the same number, written normally for people to read, in your footer and contact page.
Step 3: Add a WhatsApp click-to-chat link
WhatsApp's help centre documents the official link format: https://wa.me/ followed by the full phone number in international format, omitting any zeroes, brackets or dashes, and without the plus sign. You can add a pre-filled message with ?text= followed by URL-encoded text.
A useful trick is to use a different pre-filled message on each page, so you can see where enquiries come from without any tracking cookies:
https://wa.me/9715XXXXXXXX?text=Hello%2C%20I%20saw%20your%20boat%20tours%20page
https://wa.me/9715XXXXXXXX?text=Hello%2C%20I%20saw%20your%20homepageAdd each link to a Buttons block labelled "Chat on WhatsApp", then test them on your phone.
Step 4: Add a map and a directions button
Embed the map
Google Maps' help centre describes how to get embed code: open Google Maps, find your location, open the menu and choose Share or embed map, then Embed a map and Copy HTML. In WordPress, paste it into a Custom HTML block on your contact page.
The embed code is an iframe. Check that it includes loading="lazy", and add it if it does not, so the map only loads when a visitor scrolls near it. web.dev explains that lazy-loading defers offscreen iframes until the user scrolls near them, which saves data on slow connections. The tag looks like this, with the long src address from Google in place of the placeholder:
<iframe src="PASTE-GOOGLE-EMBED-ADDRESS-HERE" width="600" height="400" style="border:0;" loading="lazy" referrerpolicy="no-referrer-when-downgrade"></iframe>Add a one-tap directions button
Google's Maps URLs documentation describes a directions link that works on phones and computers without an API key. The api=1 parameter is required, destination sets where to go, and values must be URL-encoded. This example uses placeholder coordinates; replace them with your own:
https://www.google.com/maps/dir/?api=1&destination=25.12345%2C56.12345&travelmode=drivingPut it in a Button block labelled "Get directions" right next to the Call and WhatsApp buttons.
Step 5: Complete your Google Business Profile
For many local searches, your Business Profile on Google Search and Maps is the first thing people see, before your website. If you have not created it yet, Google's help centre says to go to business.google.com/add, click Add your business to Google, follow the on-screen steps and verify. Our Dubai launch guide covers the steps and Google's guidelines in more detail.
For a Khor Fakkan business, the details that matter most:
- Name: your real-world business name, exactly as on your sign, with no extra keywords. Google's guidelines are strict about this.
- Address or service area: a precise address if customers visit you; a service area with the address hidden if you go to them, such as a mobile car wash.
- Hours: accurate, and updated before public holidays.
- Phone and website: the same phone number as your site, and a link to the page that converts best.
- Photos: your real location, products and team.
Keep the name, address and phone number identical on your website, your profile and anywhere else you are listed. Small differences make it harder for search engines to be sure they are the same business.
Step 6: Add LocalBusiness structured data
Structured data is a small block of code that describes your business in a format search engines understand. Google's local business documentation says the required properties are the business name and its address, and it recommends adding properties such as telephone, url, geo coordinates with at least five decimal places, openingHoursSpecification, priceRange and image. It also recommends using the most specific LocalBusiness type that fits, such as Restaurant rather than the general LocalBusiness; schema.org lists many types, including TravelAgency, LodgingBusiness, Store and Dentist.
Here is an example in JSON-LD format for a made-up seafront restaurant. Every value is a placeholder to replace with your own details:
{
"@context": "https://schema.org",
"@type": "Restaurant",
"name": "Example Seafront Restaurant",
"url": "https://example.com/",
"telephone": "+9719XXXXXXX",
"priceRange": "AED 40 to 120",
"image": [
"https://example.com/images/restaurant-16x9.jpg",
"https://example.com/images/restaurant-4x3.jpg",
"https://example.com/images/restaurant-1x1.jpg"
],
"address": {
"@type": "PostalAddress",
"streetAddress": "Corniche Road",
"addressLocality": "Khor Fakkan",
"addressRegion": "Sharjah",
"addressCountry": "AE"
},
"geo": {
"@type": "GeoCoordinates",
"latitude": 25.12345,
"longitude": 56.12345
},
"openingHoursSpecification": [
{
"@type": "OpeningHoursSpecification",
"dayOfWeek": ["Monday", "Tuesday", "Wednesday", "Thursday", "Friday", "Saturday", "Sunday"],
"opens": "09:00",
"closes": "23:00"
}
]
}The code goes inside a script tag with the type application/ld+json in the page. Some SEO plugins can output LocalBusiness data from a settings screen; if yours does not, ask your developer to add the script to the homepage or contact page.
Validate it
Paste your page address into Google's Rich Results Test at search.google.com/test/rich-results, which Google's documentation recommends for checking structured data. Fix any errors it reports. For a general schema.org check, the Schema Markup Validator at validator.schema.org also validates the markup. After the page is live, Google suggests using the URL Inspection tool in Search Console to check how Google sees it.
Heads up: the structured data must match what visitors see on the page. Do not add opening hours, prices or reviews in the code that are not shown on the page itself.
Step 7: Make sure contact forms reach you
A contact form that silently fails is worse than no form, because the visitor thinks they have contacted you. Send WordPress email through an authenticated SMTP mailbox on your domain, set the form's From address to that mailbox with Reply-To set to the visitor, and keep a saved copy of each enquiry. Our Sharjah lead-generation guide walks through every step, including spam protection with Cloudflare Turnstile.
Keep the form short: name, phone or email, and a message. Every extra field loses people on a phone.
Step 8: Make it fast on mobile data
Visitors on the corniche or the mountain road may be on a weak connection. Google's web.dev guidance describes a good experience as Largest Contentful Paint within 2.5 seconds, Interaction to Next Paint of 200 milliseconds or less and Cumulative Layout Shift of 0.1 or less.
- Resize and compress photos before uploading, and use a modern format such as WebP or AVIF.
- Avoid autoplay background videos on the first screen.
- Lazy-load the map, as shown in Step 4.
- Turn on page caching. On LiteSpeed servers, our LiteSpeed Cache guide covers the settings.
- Host close to your visitors. Our UAE hosting pillar guide shows how to measure response times from Dubai.
Test the homepage in PageSpeed Insights on mobile, then try it yourself on mobile data, away from Wi-Fi.
Step 9: Track enquiries with consent
You want to know which channels bring customers, without tracking people who have not agreed to it.
- Ask people. Add an optional "How did you find us?" field to the form, and ask on the phone.
- Use page-specific WhatsApp messages, as shown in Step 3, so each chat tells you which page it came from.
- Tag your Google Business Profile link. Google Analytics' help centre explains that adding UTM parameters such as
utm_source,utm_mediumandutm_campaignto a link lets you see which campaigns refer traffic. For example, set your profile's website link tohttps://example.com/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=business-profile. - If you use analytics cookies, show a consent banner that blocks them until the visitor accepts, and explain what you collect in your privacy notice. The UAE's PDPL generally requires consent for processing personal data, with specific exceptions; this is general information, not legal advice.
How to check everything works
- Buttons: on a phone using mobile data, tap Call, WhatsApp and Get directions. Each should open the right app with the right details.
- Map: the map appears on the contact page and only loads as you scroll to it.
- Structured data: the Rich Results Test shows your LocalBusiness data with no errors.
- Profile: search for your business name on Google and check the profile shows the same name, phone, hours and website.
- Form: submit an enquiry from your phone and confirm it reaches the inbox, not spam.
- Speed: PageSpeed Insights on mobile meets the Core Web Vitals targets, or you know what to fix.
Troubleshooting
The Call button does nothing on a computer
That is normal on many desktops without a calling app. It works on phones. Keep the number written in plain text too, so desktop visitors can read it.
The WhatsApp link opens but says the number is invalid
The number is in the wrong format. Remove the plus sign, spaces, dashes and the leading zero, and keep the 971 country code.
The Rich Results Test reports missing fields
name and address are required; add any that are missing. Warnings about recommended fields are worth fixing too, as long as the information is also shown on the page.
The map makes the page slow
Make sure the iframe has loading="lazy", and place the map lower on the page rather than on the first screen.
The directions button opens the wrong place
The destination value is wrong or not URL-encoded. Use your exact latitude and longitude, with the comma written as %2C, and test again.
Your Business Profile shows different hours from your website
Update both on the same day, and set a reminder to review hours before each public holiday.
The one message worth forwarding
Send this to whoever manages your website:
"Please put Call, WhatsApp and Get directions buttons at the top of our homepage on mobile, use tel: links in +971 format and wa.me links with page-specific messages, embed our Google map with loading=lazy, add LocalBusiness structured data that matches the page and passes the Rich Results Test, make sure our contact form sends through SMTP, tag our Google Business Profile link with UTM parameters, and only load analytics after consent."
The takeaway: in Khor Fakkan, the business that wins the enquiry is usually the one whose phone, WhatsApp, map and hours are one tap away, accurate everywhere, and fast to load on a beach-side signal.
Reader questions
How do I add a click-to-call button to my website?
Link the button to tel: followed by your number in global format, for example tel:+971 then the number without its leading zero. RFC 3966 says global numbers start with a plus sign and the country code.
What is the WhatsApp link format for a UAE number?
Use https://wa.me/ followed by 971 and the number without its leading zero, with no plus sign, spaces or dashes. Add ?text= with URL-encoded text for a pre-filled message.
What structured data should a local business add?
LocalBusiness structured data, using the most specific type that fits. Google requires name and address, and recommends telephone, url, geo coordinates, opening hours, price range and images.
How do I test my LocalBusiness structured data?
Paste the page address into Google's Rich Results Test and fix any errors. The Schema Markup Validator at validator.schema.org also checks schema.org markup, and Search Console's URL Inspection tool shows how Google sees the live page.
How do I add a Get directions button?
Link it to a Google Maps URL such as https://www.google.com/maps/dir/?api=1&destination= followed by your URL-encoded latitude and longitude. Google's documentation says Maps URLs need no API key.
How can I track enquiries without tracking cookies?
Ask how people found you, use a different pre-filled WhatsApp message on each page, and add UTM parameters to your Google Business Profile link. Use analytics cookies only after visitors consent.
